We all have those days when we are just a little depressed and down in the dumps and not quite sure how to get out of it. Don’t let yourself be dragged down by your negative emotions! You’re a boss ass b*tch and you can do this sh*t! Here is a list of 50 things to do when you’re just not feeling like yourself.




1. Go On A Hike/Walk In The Park

Hiking is one of my absolute favorite things to do in the whole wide world! There is nothing like getting out in nature and breathing that fresh air and getting away from everything, even if it’s only for a couple of hours. If you don’t have quick easy access to hiking trails take a walk through your local park! Bring the dog!

2. Call Someone You Love

When was the last time you called your mom or dad or sister? If you’re feeling down, sometimes the one thing you need to is to hear the voice of someone you love!

3. Read A Good Book!

Books are always an amazing escape from reality! If that’s what you’re needing, then nothing compares to the comfort of curling up with a good book and maybe a cup of tea.

4. Take The Dog For A Walk

Get out of the house for a little and just go walk with your dog! Have you even explored your neighborhood much? Go check it out with your four legged buddy! Don’t have a dog? That’s fine! Local animal shelters are always looking for people to come in and play with dogs and take them on walks! You never know, you may find your four legged soul mate!

5. Start A Journal

There is just something  super therapeutic about writing everything out on paper! When you’re feeling down write out everything that you’re feeling and everything that made you feel that way. Sometimes all you need is to get it out.

6. Paint A Picture

Go get a canvas and a set of paints and go crazy! Don’t focus so much on how it looks, focus on getting your feelings out! Focus on how the painting makes you feel. Or they even have painting classes that serve wine! Now those are fun!

7. Go To The Gym

Go get your butt moving! Go to the gym and lift some sh*t up and put it back down! Go for a run! Just move! Your body always feels so much better after exercise.  



8. Watch Your Favorite Movie

Curl up in your comfiest blanket and watch your favorite movie! There’s nothing wrong with kicking back for a little and watching that one movie that always gets to you and gives you that good feeling. You know the one I’m talking about! Add a glass of wine for added effect. 




9. Play With Kids

Nothing makes you feel more innocent and carefree as child’s play. Children are numb to the problems of the world. Give into that ignorance for a little and just play! Forget all of your worries and just play!!

10. Drink A Cup Of Tea

There is just something about a hot cup of tea that warms your soul. Take a second to relax, breathe, and drink a little warm tea. 🙂

11. Listen To Some Good Music

It’s no secret that music too has a way of touching your soul. Listen to some music that makes your soul dance! Or, if it’s what you need, there’s nothing wrong with playing a little bit of sad music to help get everything out of your system.

12. Do A Random Act Of Kindness: Buy A Homeless Person Lunch!

Doing an act of kindness for someone less fortunate than yourself always has a way of making you feel good and puts things into perspective for you. Things could always be worse… And now I say buy a homeless person some lunch because I don’t quite believe in handing out money for the fact that a majority of the homeless population is in that predicament due to addiction (at least it is in my area). Handing them money only enables that addiction. Now on the other hand I very firmly believe that no one should go hungry to matter the circumstances! Or maybe talk to them for a minute, find out what they need; shoes, socks, blankets, coat, etc.

13. Eat A Bowl Of Your Favorite Ice Cream!!!

Ice cream solves everything! Not literally, but you know what I mean! Don’t eat the whole container, indulge but don’t engorge.

14. Take A Nice Long Bath

Now taking a nice hot bath is one of the most relaxing things in the world! (For me anyway) I try to take a hot bath at least once a week to reduce stress. Draw a hot bath, toss in some Epsom salt and a few drops of lavender essential oil and just RELAX! Turn your brain off for a little while and just breathe. Just breathe.

15. Pamper Yourself

When was the last time you put everything down and took care of you? Take a day and just focus on you! Take a bath or hot shower, shave everything, moisturize that sh*t, apply a nice face mask, and paint your nails! Take care of you! You boss ass b*tch, you!

16. Look Up Some Inspiring Quotes

Sometimes all you need is a little bit of encouragement to pick yourself up. Look up some inspiring quotes to get your ass back into gear! (Post soon to come!)

17. Meditate

Yup! I said it! Though I shouldn’t have to! Meditation is the ultimate relaxation. I meditate daily and it is one of the best things that I ever started doing for myself. When you meditate, don’t try and shut everything out (that’s literally impossible), instead let everything happening flow through and around you. Don’t dwell on anyone thing. Let your mind drift a little. DON’T DWELL. Dwelling is most likely why you’re feeling this way in the first place. LET THAT SH*T GO!

18. Take A Nap

Naps are such a beautiful thing! (Says the mom with three kids) Naps are quiet and peaceful. Relax a little. Let yourself drift to sleep for a couple of hours and sleep off that stress! When you wake up, give yourself a good stretch, and get back to it! YOU GOT THIS!

19. Put Your Phone Away For A While

Phones, while being very useful tools, are also stressful and mind numbing objects. They are our portal to drama and stress. Turn that stupid thing off for a while and put it somewhere that you’re not tempted to look at it.

20. Practice Smiling!

Smiling repeatedly when feeling down has been scientifically proven to improve moods! So smile! Just because you can!



21. Make A Simple Check List And Then Check It!

Make a simple checklist, even if it’s just a list of regular things that you do every day, and then check it off as you go! Writing everything out and checking it off as you go gives you a sense of accomplishment and with it, a better mood!

22. Have A Picnic

Your gonna eat lunch anyways so why not grab a blanket and eat it outside on the grass? Being out doors is good for you! Just sit back, eat your lunch, and watch everything going on around you! (I love people watching, people are weird). 




23. Go Somewhere New

Take a short drive and go somewhere you’ve never been before! That hot springs just outside of town you’ve been wanting to check out. Or that new museum they just built! Go explore something new!

Who ever said that someone else had to buy flowers for you?? Flowers brighten people’s days, so go get you a bouquet of your favorite flowers to brighten up your day and your home!

25. Try Something You’ve Never Done Before

Have you ever wanted to learn how to paint? Or ride a unicycle? Or surf? Or maybe mix drinks? Think outside the box! Take a class or learn from a friend, but try something that you’ve never done before! You may just find a new hobby!

26. Make A List Of Things That You’re Grateful For

When things get tough and stressful, it’s easy to lose sight of the blessings already present in our lives. Take a minute to write out all of the things that you are grateful to have in your life! “I remember when I wished for the things that I have now.”-Unknown

Sometimes all you really need is a bit of extra sleep. If you’re going to bed at midnight every night, your body is probably tired. Go to bed early and see how you feel in the morning.

28. Get Crafty!

Getting creative can be a perfect way to let out all  if the emotions you may be feeling. Look up some crafts on Pintrest, and get crafting! You never know, you may find a new hobby!



29. Make Some Bomb Ass Food Just For You!

I don’t know about you but food is the way to my heart! I love getting creative in the kitchen and cooking some awesome food just for me! For a little while, don’t care about what everyone else doesn’t like in their food or about what THEY want to eat. Make something that YOU want!

30. Get Dressed Up For No Reason!

Dress up in your best clothes and do your hair and makeup in just that way that makes you feel like a queen! Be a queen for a day! Even if you don’t end up going anywhere, you could take some b*tchin pictures! 🙂

31. Go To A Cute Little Coffee Shop Or Boutique You’ve Never Been To

I don’t know about you but I love the feeling of little coffee shops and boutiques! There’s just something about walking into a little store that someone poured their heart and soul into, that you can feel! It’s also a great way to support local businesses!

Put on some of your favorite music and just dance like no one is watching! Shake all of your cares away!

38. Reach Out To An Old Friend

Sometimes focusing on all of the problems happening right now can be overwhelming, try thinking about the future! And not just the future, the best possible future! What do you want to do more than anything? If you won the lottery, what would you do? Make some of your goals easily attainable so that way you can cross it off your list when you finish it!

We can’t all be strong all of the time. Sometimes you just need to cry it out! No one will think any less of you for it. If it’s what you need, cry it out you beautiful thing!

41. Remember To Look At The BIG Picture!

It’s so easy to get caught up in the small things. At the end of the day, we’re all only here for a little while. Is this situation worth squandering your happiness? (I highly doubt it..) Whatever is going on, there’s always a light at the end of the tunnel, even if you have to light that b*tch up yourself!




42. Compliment Someone

We all feel good when someone compliments us, why not do that for someone else? And when we make someone else feel good, it makes us feel good!

43. Bake Some Cookies!

I LOVE COOKIES. Cookies are life! Crank up some good tunes, slide around on the floor in your socks, and eat some cookie dough! Who cares!? Then bake those magnificent round delights and top them with a scoop of ice cream while they’re still hot! YUM!!

44. Get A Massage

Do I really need to explain this one?? And massages aren’t as expensive as you probably think.. Most 20-30 minute chair massages go for about $20-$25. SO WORTH IT.

45. Go To A Museum Or Gallery

I love art and history so museums and galleries are so much fun to me! I love learning about the history behind each piece or about the artist that made it! If you’ve never gone, I suggest at least trying it. The atmosphere is always super relaxing.

46. Visit A Family Member

Do you have a grandma or aunt that doesn’t live to far away that you just never go see? Or when’s the last time you saw your parents? Well quit with the excuses and go see them! I’m sure that they would be overjoyed to see you.

47. Plan A Trip! (Even If You Don’t Take It)

This is a technique that I came across recently that is supposed to help build suspense and excitement for a possible vacation. Even if you don’t follow through with taking the trip, plan your dream vacation and allow yourself to get excited about it!

48. Take Some Time Alone

Some times all we need is for everyone else to just f*ck off for a little! If you need to be alone, let it be known! Tell your significant other that you just need a little time alone.. Maybe have them take the kids out to do something so you can even have the house to yourself! Or you go do something on your own!

49. Lay On A Blanket And Watch The Clouds

When’s the last time that you looked for shapes in passing clouds? If you were 10, it’s been too long. Grab a comfy blanket and just lay in the grass and watch the clouds! Don’t worry about anything else, just for a little while.

Take some time and feel how good it feels to stretch. Breathe as deeply as you can and exhale slowly. We get so wrapped up in our emotions at times that we forget to JUST BREATHE.
