This one is especially for all of you moms out there! Because as a mom, we bust ASS for our families on the daily! Therefor, finding a little peace is a must! Just because it feels like there are 50 million things to get done today, doesn’t mean that you have to lose your mind trying to get them all done. Organizing your time, mind, and space while sprinkling in some alone time and designated task time, helps TREMENDOUSLY with stress levels!

  

Start organizing your life with these simple tips!

1. Create A Me Space

  

Having a me space is amazing when you have a family. Of course you love your family and all but sometimes you need to be alone with your thoughts and hobbies. A me space gives exactly that! It’s essentially just your own little area or room (office, desk area, art room, she shed, etc..) that you create all your own and that no one else is permitted to use. It’s a space that is ALL YOURS!

  

Of course space can be limited and I of all people understand that! So maybe a certain space is yours at designated times? Mom’s bath time! Or hubby gets kicked out of the bedroom at a designated time! There are options, sometimes you just have to get creative!

2. Designate Me Time

  

Especially as a mother, it is SO EASY to just get caught up in the needs of your family but you can’t forget about yourself! Designate a time, away from everyone else, whether that be in the house or out of it, just designate some time for you!

  

Maybe hit the gym? Physical activity is not only good for you, but a great stress reliever!

3. Organize Your Sh*t!

  

I never feel more stressed and overwhelmed than when my house is overflowing and obliterated! It clouds my thinking and immediately sends me into an anxiety attack.. Simply keeping your items organized and in their own place helps clear up a lot of bullsh*t! Keep the peace, organize your sh*t.

4. Minimalize

  

This goes right back to organizing your sh*t, STOP HOLDING ONTO SH*T YOU DON’T NEED!! Holy crap, I have never understood human’s obsessive need for THINGS! I am fully guilty of it and have to correct myself all the time. But I don’t really understand why we have such a hard time letting go of things?.. We’ll save that can of worms for another time.

  

Purging your belongings can be so refreshing and invigorating! Plus, less stuff to worry about equals less stress! Here are a couple of posts that will help out a lot when trying to declutter!

5. Read!

  

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, DON’T UNDERVALUE THE POWER OF READING! I love reading! It’s such a simple yet powerful thing! By simply reading a book you can be transported to another world, or learn something that you’ve always wanted to, or improve important life skills! The possibilities are quite literally endless!

  

Find time to read! It’s one of the best things that you can do before sleeping so maybe try switching from watching TV before bed to reading? Reading is a much more peaceful alternative to TV anyways..

6. Meditate

  

Meditation is so good for your body and soul! It has a way of clearing your mind of the thoughts that ail you and centering your energy so that you can redirect it in a productive manner. Even if you don’t necessarily believe in meditation, please try it before you draw your conclusions.. And I mean actually try it!

  

Light a soothing candle or incense, put on some peaceful meditation music, give yourself plenty of space, sit on the floor with your legs crossed and your arms/hands relaxed comfortably, close your eyes, and focus on your breathing. Breathe slowly and deeply. Let your thoughts come and go, do not dwell on any of them. Do this for 15-20 minutes and see how you feel!

7. Candles

  

I love candles! They have the power to change the way a room or home feels. They have the power to uplift a sour mood or induce a peaceful one! Find some of the scents that you love best and light candles around your home from time to time! Create a soothing atmosphere!

8. Music

  

There is ALWAYS music playing in our house, mostly because Nick is such a musician but either way.. Music is similar to the candles in a sense that it has the power to create atmospheres and influence moods. Therefor if you’re having a bad day and you put on some peaceful music, you have the ability to turn your mood around before the end of the night! So put on some good music and lose yourself in it!

9. Create Clear Rules

  

Having clear rules for your household is a must! Especially for families! Kids love finding loopholes and if your household rules are not clear and concrete, they will walk all over you! Had to figure that one out the hard way…

  

Your home is YOURS. You pay the bills. You bought the damn thing, so guess what! YOU’RE IN CHARGE! And that means that you get to pick the rules! So do it! Don’t let anyone in your household walk on you and save yourself an argument later on, just set your rules..

10. Have A Routine

  

Okay, full disclosure, I am not a fan of having a ‘routine’.. It sounds like rut to me.. BUT when you have kids, you don’t have a whole lot of choice. Kids especially need routines to help them develop, and as a mom, it’s a great way to help make the days go smoother. BUT AGAIN, just because you have a routine doesn’t mean that it can’t be permeable or at least semipermeable. (Which means you can always mix it up or ‘pass through the routine’ and if things don’t go perfectly according to plan, you can change it up without destroying the whole thing.)

11. Take Solo Days And/Or Nights Out

  

Absolutely take days to yourself or nights to go out with friends! I hate when I come across relationships where the two have completely let go of their previous lives to ‘build a life together’. Don’t get me wrong, building a life together is a big part of a relationship but you can’t just drop the person that you were before you met them! It’s impossible! Just because you’re in a relationship does not mean that you cease to be the person that you are and no longer want to do some of the things that you did before! You are your own person. Period. So take some time for you!

12. Date Nights

  

Well of course you need date nights! This post isn’t ALL about getting away from everyone else.. When it comes to date nights, don’t do what everyone else does and go to the same place for dinner on the same night of each week/month at the same time every time… That’s what I call a rut! F*ck that sh*t! Mix it up! Go to a restaurant that you’ve never been to! Or go to an awesome concert! Just designate time for the important people in your life.

  

Date nights aren’t just for couples! Take your little girl on a Mommy/Daughter date! Or a Mother/Son date! And encourage your hubby to take the kids out at times too!

13. Brain Dumps

  

Oh! Brain dumps make me so happy! 🙂 Literally..

  

A brain dump is exactly how it sounds, you dump everything that is weighing on your mind onto a sheet of paper or computer! That’s it! As a blogger, this is an insanely useful exercise. I constantly have new ideas for posts, pictures, social media, and whatever else rolling around in my mind that I can’t necessarily address right that second so, brain dump and deal with it later!

  

This can really help with winding down at the end of the night when your mind won’t shut off!

14. Don’t Worry About Things You Can’t Fix Right Now

  

What’s the point of stressing yourself out over something that cannot be fixed? Whenever something is weighing on you ask yourself a couple of questions:

  

Can I fix it?

If the answer is no, then don’t sweat it! It’s not worth the energy wasted. If the answer is yes then ask yourself a second question:

  

Can I fix it right now?

If the answer is no, then worry about it at a time that you CAN fix it! If the answer if yes, JUST GET IT DONE and quit freaking!

15. Indulge In Your Desires

  

You know that chocolate bar?.. Yeah, you know the one! Go get it and take a big huge bite! Or that purse you’ve been eyeballing for the past 6 months? Go get it!

  

You deserve to give in to the things that you want from time to time! Don’t go too crazy.. But give yourself a little win. 😉

16. Hobbies

  

If you have a certain hobby that you like, participate in it a little more often! If you don’t necessarily have a hobby, try something that you’ve never done before!

  

Hobbies can be a great creative outlet and help tremendously with releaving stress creating a peaceful outlook!

17. Eat Healthier

  

It’s true what they say, you get out what you put in, so why not put the good sh*t into our bodies?? Quit putting crap into your system and watch how much better you feel!
